The Netherlands: May 7–14

The Netherlands: May 7–14

We’ve wanted to bring a group to The Netherlands since…forever it seems! Because we’ve always been fascinated by Dutch design, from the remarkable achievements in Dutch arts from the 16th to 18th centuries, to the visionary work created over the past 70 years. Today Dutch design is renowned for its cutting-edge approach to seemingly ordinary issues, often with a knowing touch of humor.

What perhaps isn’t as widely known is that there is significant textile industry in The Netherlands, that is just as forward-thinking as the country’s other design industries. We’ll be visiting factories and studios that create fabrics using both age-old processes and the absolute latest in production techniques. Plus, museum visits, antiquing, and time for sightseeing.

We’ll be based in Amsterdam, in boutique design hotel right on one of the canals. Includes: Seven nights, double-occupancy; breakfast at the hotel; airport transfers to Amsterdam hotel; local Amsterdam transportation to all appointments; transportation to all other appointments and any appointment admission fees.

Our 2020 Fall Schedule

Our 2020 Fall Schedule

It’s too early to start scheduling appointments for our fall tours, but keep these dates in mind:

Provence: September 12-19
Provence is one of our “home-stay” trips, where we rent a beautiful mas, very near St. Rémy. It means delicious home-cooked meals, aperitifs in the garden, morning and afternoon swims and wonderful “at-home” workshops. But we definitely get out and explore—field trips to antique markets, museums, studio visits, and more.

Paris: September 19-23
Come join us in Paris this fall for a fantastic lesson in design history, with exclusive guided tours of some of the most famous homes in the region, such as Versailles, Fontainebleau, Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, Château de Malmaison, etc. We’ll also visit the studios of artisans who are inspired by, or often help restore, some of the priceless works in these monuments.

This is trip is organized so that if you’re joining us from Provence, you can add as few or as many days with us in Paris as you’d like.

Portugal: September 26-October 3
We loved Portugal so much we’re heading back and we’ve added a couple of days! Expect a mix of art, design and cultural history, with highlights including the splendors of Sintra, in-depth details on the significance of Portuguese tiles, insight into the up-and-coming Portuguese design industry and so much more!
